The client needed a solution that was strong enough to support the staging equipment but also gentle enough to ensure no damage was done to the playing surface. access for heavy machinery was also limited, requiring a man-portable solution.

JWA provided Rhino Mats (part of the Dura-Base family) to create a temporary staging area. These mats are man-portable, allowing for easy deployment without the need for heavy machinery on the pitch.

The mats interlocked to form a continuous, protective surface. This distributed the weight of the staging equipment evenly, preventing compaction and damage to the turf underneath. The surface provided a safe, clean work area for the crew to set up the spectacular show.

The Rhino Mats successfully protected The Gabba's grounds throughout the event setup and the concert itself. The temporary staging area provided a stable foundation for the production. Following the concert, the mats were quickly removed, revealing the undamaged turf below, ready for the next sporting match.
