Environmental Practices

Strengthening sustainability across every project.

Our Commitment

How JWA Continues to Strengthen Environmental Practices

At JWA, we are assisting construction projects across multiple industries to reduce their impact on the environment, with composite matting solutions that:
  • Provide the ground with a layer of robust protection
  • Reduce the dependency on quarried crushed rock
  • Reduce transportation required
  • Reduce waste
  • Reduce remediation
  • Reduce water runs needed for dust suppression
  • Reduce sediment run-offs and vehicle track outs

Our Philosophy

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Within JWA, we follow the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Reduce the need for new materials as much as possible, otherwise ensure maximum reusability of the item, and lastly, recycle the item instead of disposal. With these in mind, we are continuously making improvements on our ISO accredited operations to go beyond meeting federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

Reduce

Minimise the need for new materials on every project

Reuse

Maximise product service life across multiple deployments

Recycle

Recycle or repurpose at end of service life

Servicing & Reuse

Composite Mat Servicing

Our solutions are designed to replace traditional single-use construction materials and prevent unnecessary trips to the landfill. As such, we place a strong focus on the reusability of our products. We have a team of qualified technicians to maintain our fleet of composite mats, fully maximising their product service life of over 15 years. Every mat returning from projects to our facilities is scrutinised for wear and tear, serviced where required, and returned to our fleet in tip-top condition.
At the end of service life, the fully recyclable composite mats have the option of being recycled locally or repurposed for research use.

Composite Mat Washing Machine

Our mat washing operations ensure all returned mats are cleaned to prevent potential contamination and the spread of weed and seeds. Constant refinement of our process has led to the development of our washing machine, designed for high water efficiency and utilises rainwater to tackle the toughest soils and mud without any chemicals.

Sustainable Facilities

Sustainable Operations

Our dedicated composite matting facilities are now taking advantage of the abundance of solar energy in the Sunshine State. We have also conducted a comprehensive audit of our facilities and implemented energy efficient actions resulting in a significant reduction in our Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions. JWA continues to measure our carbon footprint and implement carbon reduction actions on an annual basis.

Workplace Culture

Promoting the Culture of Sustainability in the Workplace

Our team members regularly share ideas and take on in-house projects such as repurposing broken pallets and equipment into furniture, composting, and keeping a permaculture garden.
