Overview
Defence armed forces required a temporary camp to conduct training in a remote desert environment characterised by barren, dusty, and sandy terrain. Dura-Base mats were deployed to create a stable 5,000sqm surface for the camp.
Remote Desert Environment
The project was located in a remote desert environment, presenting significant challenges due to the barren landscape, loose sandy terrain, and dust. Establishing a functional and clean camp ground in these conditions was critical for the training operations.
The surface needed to be stable enough for personnel and equipment, while also mitigating the issues caused by the dusty environment.
Temporary Camp Platform
Dura-Base composite mats were utilised to construct a temporary platform and camp ground. Over 400 mats were installed, covering approximately 5,000sqm of the desert surface.
The interlocking mats created a solid, continuous floor that suppressed dust and provided a stable footing over the sand, significantly improving the conditions for the armed forces personnel.
Results
The deployment of Dura-Base mats successfully transformed a challenging desert site into a functional military camp. The 5,000sqm platform provided a clean and stable environment for training, proving the effectiveness of the system in remote and harsh conditions.
