Overview
The Stockyard Hill Wind Farm project required reliable access routes for construction machinery and personnel. Medium-duty interlocking composite mats were deployed to gain access to the site, providing a stable and weatherproof surface for construction activities.
Wind Farm Site Access
Setting up a wind farm involves moving heavy equipment and components across often remote and unprepared terrain. Ensuring that construction sites remain accessible in various weather conditions is a major logistical challenge.
The project needed a temporary surfacing solution that could be quickly deployed to create safe transport routes for cranes and other heavy machinery.
Medium-Duty Matting Solution
JWA provided medium-duty matting to facilitate site access. The interlocking composite mats created a continuous, stable surface that distributed loads and prevented bogging in soft ground.
This system provided a robust alternative to traditional gravel or wood-based temporary roads, allowing construction to proceed without the mess and environmental impact of heavy civil works.
Results
The use of medium-duty matting at Stockyard Hill Wind Farm successfully provided the necessary access for construction teams. The mats ensured that the site remained operational, facilitating the efficient assembly and installation of wind turbines while protecting the local environment.
